6 weeks

Last night, one of my dearest friends in our cohort and I did a presentation on Mindfulness Meditation for Chronically Ill Adolescents. We threw the power point, research paper, and presentation together the night before, but I still really enjoyed this project.  We discussed the benefits of mindfulness meditation and how it had powerful results.  We then lead the class in a simple exercise where they used colored pencils and colored in a Labyrinth on paper.  It seemed that the class was really engaged and it was a fun and somewhat unique topic to be able to present to them.  I am going to keep researching on how to bring holistic approaches such as mindfulness, meditation, yoga, etc to my clients.

We have only six weeks until graduation!  Can I tell you how incredibly difficult it is to stay present and fully engaged in school by this point?  I am ready to work full-time.  I’m ready to delve further into specialization topics and really develop my professional skills.  I am ready to have nights and weekends with my family.  I am ready to have time and money to practice yoga at a study daily.  I am ready to have spending money! I am ready to read books for pleasure (and not feel guilty about it!). But there are still six weeks left, so I will do the best I can with the time I have left.

I practiced the entire month of March 4-5x’s a week at the yoga studio.  It was incredible.  I am so glad I made the space for it in my life.  However, for April, I am going to have to take a month off at the studio.  Jack is going out of town and they are adding a lot of heat to us so I don’t think I am going to have the time nor the money to go as often as I’d like this month.  Consequently, I want to diligently practice at home.  I did this in February and now I feel even more prepared to work solo for April as well.  My goals are really just to make it to my mat every day for at least 10 minutes (hopefully longer) and to take lots of long walks with Jackson out in nature and practice mindfulness while I walk.  I think that is pretty do-able. 🙂

Six weeks left…wow…BRING IT!
