Her King, His Queen~ One life, One love

I am selfishly claiming a couple hours this Sunday to myself to write, reflect, and create.  I am so richly blessed in life, that I barely have time to myself (unless I wake up at 430 in the morning which is exactly why I do just that!)

One of the busy but also super amazing things that’s going on in my life these days is that Jack and I have been planning a 2 week honeymoon/elopement to Mexico and the time for us to leave is nigh! We leave next Sunday! I am thrilled that we are doing this.  We became engaged in October of 2014 , but we have known each other for 10 years (and, oh yeah, we also have a 4 1/2 year old son together!)  So we are clearly not on a timely schedule with all of this marriage/engagement stuff…but, hey! At least we are making it happen, in our own time, and in our own way.

I am not much for ceremony and I suppose he isn’t really either.  So instead of throwing a huge wedding, we decided to save our pennies (for 2 years!) and spend time in Mexico (Cozumel, Tulum, Cancun) together, instead.  We are going to the courthouse Friday to make it legal, and spending all of the rest of our time, energy, and money enjoying Mexico together.  I plan on taking some yoga classes on the beach, reading on the beach (I’m bringing the book: The Things I Would Like to do with You by Waylon Lewis) and listening to music on the beach (Panic en La Playa is happening in Riveria Maya at the Hard Rock).  Not to mention the fact that we want to check out the ancient Mayan ruins, go snorkeling, and whatever other kind of excursions our hearts desire!

Right now our biggest obstacle is what kind of wedding rings we should get.  Jack works with his hands a lot.  Right now, he is working a job doing construction, but he is also an incredibly talented glass artist.  Because having a metal ring on may not be the best idea for him, we are sort of toying with the idea of getting ring tattoos or maybe just plain ol’ tattoos, but we are still undecided. We want the right ring, but just haven’t found “the one”.  Maybe we will discover it in Mexico….

Otherwise, we have been cleaning, scrubbing, and decluttering the house (So grateful I read and put into practice Marie Kondo’s book, the life-changing magic of tidying up). The kid’s grandfather will be watching our kids while we are gone and we are so grateful that he is willing to help us out. Much Love, O.

“Love isn’t falling in love.  Love isn’t hormones.  Love isn’t amazing sex.  Love is finding someone who loves you as you are–all of you–good, bad, happy, sad.  But, that’s not all: they love you fully as you are–and help you become better, both.  And you do the same for them.  Love is friendship and passion, like earthen clay fired by heat into something new, beautiful and benefit to all.” -Waylon Lewis, The Things I Would Like to do with You

  1. Nice, congrats to you both! Weddings are so much work and money and then boom, 5 hours pass and it’s over haha. It’s all about the two of you so having a court wedding and getting away will be super intimate and lovely. I’ve heard a lot about these Qalo rings in the fitness community and beyond for folks that use their hands a lot Enjoy your honeymoon!

    • Thank you for your kind words! We will check out that qalo rings…thanks for the suggestion! ❤️
